Marquee Wedding, Trafalgar Park Country House, Wiltshire, December 2006

Tim and Vicky were married in Britford Church on the outskirts of Salisbury and their reception was held at Trafalgar Park, an 18th century country house in Downton which is a favourite venue for weddings and other special events. Trafalgar Park was renamed when it was given to the brother of Admiral Lord Nelson in 1805. It is now in private ownership. Bookings are made via Country House Wedding Venues.

The guests enjoyed canapés and a champagne reception in the magnificent Baroque Hall and adjacent Drawing Room provided by Shipseys Catering Department, after which the wedding party and guests moved into the marquee which had been sited on the front lawn of Trafalgar Park.

To accommodate some 200 guests together with a dance floor and staging, Shipsey's Marquee department decided it was necessary to erect an 80 foot by 40 foot framed marquee with ivory pleated lining and valance. Guests were seated at round tables of 10 people on gilt chairs. To reflect the winter season the florist, Rachel Phillips, had created some wonderfully informal arrangements in red and gold which started at the front entrance to the marquee and continued onto the round dining tables where round mirrors had been used to reflect the flower and candle arrangements.

The cake was made by Robert Lewis of Salisbury, and was a white and dark chocolate confection over a rich chocolate cake.

In the evening further guests arrived and danced under the starcloth ceiling before carriages at midnight.
